June 5th is World Environment Day and to celebrate, A Green Venture has curated an all weekend sustainable living festival at VR Bengaluru Mall in Whitefield. Dubbed VR Green, the festival will run from 12pm-9pm on June 4th and 5th and revolve around the theme ‘Relevance of Sustainable Living’.
Along with eating delicious food, the festival will showcase the ease and benefits of living greener and more sustainable lives in our cities. At the event, participants will have the opportunity to meet farmers learn about organic produce, talk to sustainability experts, participate in interactive workshops, a
nd engage with everyday eco solutions.
Living in an ever crowded and congested metropolis like Bangalore, our interactions with food, gardening and waste can seem limited, if not predetermined. So, if you have ever wondered about upcycling and vertical gardening, or have wanted more choice about the quality of your food and where it comes from, then VR Green is the event for you.
Our farm to fork platform is set up to enable consumers to connect with their food, question and learn about what’s on their plate, where it came from and how it got there.
Festival participants can go on a food journey, beginning at a model farm, moving through to an authentic farmer’s market where fresh produce can be bought and growers can be met, and then to a cafe section where delicious and healthy food can be eaten and demonstrations by chefs will be performed.
The garbage to garden platform is a doable waste management solution, which demonstrates how household waste can be transformed into a creative garden or urban farm.
Festival participants can participate in workshops and talks on waste segregation, composting and kitchen gardening, before moving onto upcycling activities and the interactive vertical garden installation. The vertical garden has been constructed out of recyclable and upcycled materials, and will give festival participants the opportunity to plant a seedling of their own.
Festival details are listed below, including highlights of our farm to fork and garbage to garden platforms. If you would like to know more, or you are interested in volunteering with A Green Venture at the event, send a message to [email protected].
